I’ve been lucky enough to work with Elaine Li since 2022 at In The Hills magazine, a large-format glossy regional quarterly country magazine serving Caledon, Orangeville and other parts of Dufferin County, and Erin.
It all began in the realm of food photography, with Elaine capturing the local food scene for our pages – both on location and in studio. But from the first small assignment we worked on, it was clear that we’d benefit from Elaine taking on a bigger role because her skills extend out in so many directions. In many cases she is a one-stop-shop. Because she has a background in recipe development and has a keen eye for food styling, I assign her multi-spread features on topics as diverse as apple pies and a Lunar New Year feast. Her skill set has not only met our needs at the magazine, but it has also inspired me to look for creative ways to assign her.
In three short years, I have learned that I can also rely on Elaine for touching portrait work and feature photography on topics far beyond food – including local artisans and sports stars. I am constantly looking for even more ways for Elaine to fill our pages. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.
